Tremend’s forecast: apps for smartwatches would reach a 10% share of all mobile apps developed worldwide, from under 1% of a global mobile app market of about 25 billion dollars. Tremend, founded ten years earlier: revenue of 1.2 million euros in 2014, 20% of it from mobile apps, and 50 employees.
Few apps per phone in Romania
“In Romania an average of 4-5 apps are downloaded on a mobile device, while in the US the average is 23 mobile apps installed on smartphones, and in Japan, which ranks first internationally, 45 apps.” („În România sunt descărcate în medie 4-5 aplicaţii pe un dispozitiv mobil, în timp ce în SUA media este de 23 de aplicaţii mobile instalate pe smartphone-uri, iar în Japonia, care ocupă primul loc în topul internaţional, 45 de aplicaţii”)

Ready for wearables
“We believe in and invest in software for these devices. We already have the first media app for iOS and Android, developed practically before the iWatch launched in Romania. We want to be prepared for the moment when wearable devices become the new mainstream.” („Noi credem şi investim în software pentru aceste device-uri. Avem deja prima aplicaţie de media pentru iOS şi Android, dezvoltată practic înainte de lansarea iWatch în România. Vrem să fim pregătiţi pentru momentul în care dispozitivele wearable vor deveni noul «mainstream»”)
Smartwatch market growth: about 30-40% a year. Tremend’s plan: focus on apps for these devices and grow its team of iOS and Android specialists. Mobile apps built until then: RainMachine, Worthpoint, RespiroGuide, iRewind and Bright Kids for foreign clients, Orange Karaoke and TinaR for Romanian clients.
