Ziarul Financiar, ZF #Teamswork 2020: Covid-19 scoring, a smart pill box and patients as clients

ZF #Teamswork videoconference, June 2020, organised with Microsoft Romania. Subject: plans of companies in the medical industry to accelerate digitalisation, and legislation that has to keep pace. Five guests, from Microsoft Romania, SofTeh, Regina Maria, Sanopass and Tremend. I was the guest from Tremend, then its co-founder and managing partner. Topics: a Covid-19 scoring platform for the Matei Balș Institute, a smart pill box, patients as clients.

§A Covid-19 scoring platform for Matei Balș

“In partnership with Microsoft, at the very start of the crisis, we launched a solution together with the Matei Balș Institute, where we designed an algorithm for a Covid-19 scoring and how serious a given case is.” („în parteneriat cu Microsoft am lansat chiar la începutul crizei o soluţie împreună cu Institutul Matei Balş, unde am conceput un algoritm pentru un scoring legat de Covid-19 şi cât de grav este un anumit caz.”)

Alongside it, the partnership with Regina Maria, with several Tremend projects. The aim was to offer the platform to the authorities free of charge, “to help as we could in the situation” („să ajutăm şi noi cum putem în situaţia dată”). It was implemented at the Matei Balș Institute, with apps in the App Store and Play Store. Talks followed with the health ministries of other countries, including New Zealand in April 2020.

§A smart pill box

“A project close to our heart was the pill box, for which we built a platform on a smart box, and the platform detected whether medication was taken properly.” („Un proiect de suflet a fost cutiuţa de medicamente pentru care am construit o platformă pe o cutie inteligentă, iar platforma detecta consumul corepunzător de medicamente.”)

An earlier Tremend IoT project, for a client in the United States. If a patient skipped a pill one day, the doctor was notified and could intervene. At the next visit, the doctor could see whether the treatment had been followed.

Elsewhere. Ziarul Financiar, 2016, another IoT product for an American client: “The application, developed for a client in America, is in first place on Amazon in the irrigation solutions category, being also one of the few IoT solutions that, apparently, manage to be viable.” („Aplicaţia care a fost dezvoltată pentru un client din America se află pe primul loc pe Amazon la categoria soluţii de irigat, fiind şi una dintre puţinele soluţii IoT care, aparent, reuşesc să fie viabile.”)

§Patients as clients

“I think patients have to turn into clients. To no longer be just a patient, but a client we serve.” („Cred că pacienţii trebuie să se transforme în clienţi. Să nu mai fie doar un pacient, ci un client pe care îl deservim.”)
