Tremend, 2005–2022

I co-founded Tremend, a Bucharest software engineering company, with Ioan Cocan in 2005. Publicis Groupe acquired it in January 2022 (Publicis Groupe).

On the founding, I said in Sramana Mitra’s Best of Bootstrapping, 2019: “We felt we could do better and faster.”

On 2007 and 2008, I said in Sramana Mitra’s Bootstrapping From Romania, Part 2, January 2018: “In the 2007 to 2008 timeframe, we also experienced the crisis in the sense that we lost our largest customer. That year, we didn’t grow, but we didn’t go down.”

In October 2017, on the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Central Europe ranking, I told Ziarul Financiar the first of the reasons for our growth: “attention to organisational culture and to the technical DNA of the people at Tremend” („atenţie la cultura organizaţională şi la ADN-ul tehnic al oamenilor din Tremend”).

In January 2022 I told Business Magazin, on the search for a partner: “Tremend has grown more than ten times in the last 5 years” („Tremend a crescut de peste zece ori în ultimii 5 ani”).

In October 2023, on the Exit by Choice podcast, I said about the sale: “We went with 12 people to all the negotiations, 12 key people.” („Noi am mers cu 12 oameni la toate negocierile, 12 oameni cheie.”) (at 32:52)
